The original Erix Tool cutter with its folding wing, marked Made in Sweden

Front and back.
One cycle.

The folding wing passes through a pre-drilled hole and machines the back face without turning or re-clamping the part.

The wing reaches the face behind the hole.

The patented cutting wing folds into the spindle, passes through a pre-drilled hole and opens for machining. Spotfacing, chamfering, deburring and counterboring can be done without turning the part. The tool has one moving part.

Choose operation

Four operations. One principle.
An Erix folding-wing tool machining the reverse side of a pre-drilled hole
The folding wing reaches the back without turning the part.

Machine both sides in one set-up.

The wing folds into the spindle, passes through the pre-drilled hole and opens for machining. The front and back can be machined in the same cycle without turning or re-clamping the part.

Documented examples The Erix catalogue shows examples with 60–70 per cent shorter machining time compared with conventional methods, and more than 90 per cent in some cases. In one cost example, the cost fell from USD 4 to USD 1.

A proven principle Ture Johansson patented the design in 1972. It has one moving part. The standard tools cover pre-drilled holes from 4.5 to 69 mm. Special tools are available for larger sizes.
